We are very happy to announce that the pediatric orthopaedics team at Ponseti Clinic is expanding MUDr. Agnes Adamová, pediatric orthopaedic specialist, who will work alongside MUDr. Mgr. Monika Frydrychová, Ph.D., head physician of the Ponseti Clinic and specialist in pediatric orthopaedics, especially in the treatment of Pes equinovarus congenitus – PEC.
The arrival of MUDr. Agnes Adamové is an important step for our clinic in the further development of specialized pediatric orthopaedic care. MD Adamová is dedicated to pediatric orthopaedics in its entirety, including diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired musculoskeletal disorders in children. An important area of her expertise is also the care of children with a congenital leg defect known as Pes equinovarus congenitus, abbreviated PEC.
Two female doctors with exceptional expertise in the treatment of PEC
The extraordinary nature of this report also lies in the fact that MUDr. Agnes Adamová and MUDr. Mgr. Monika Frydrychová, Ph.D. are the only two female doctors in the Czech Republic who completed a professional course at the Ponseti Clubfoot Treatment and Research Center, University of Iowa, USA.
This course is extremely well-respected worldwide, not only because of its professional level, but also because of the place where it takes place. It was at University of Iowa that Dr. Ignacio V. Ponseti, the founder of the Ponseti method - today a globally recognized approach to the treatment of congenital leg defect PEC.
The Ponseti method was created right here, under the guidance of Dr. Ponseti, and gradually became the standard of modern, gentle and effective treatment of this diagnosis. It is based on professionally guided gradual correction of the deformity, follow-up care and long-term monitoring of the child in order to achieve the best possible functional result. We are proud that the Ponseti Clinic is the first and currently the only comprehensive care center for this congenital developmental defect.
Specialized care for children with PEC under one roof
Thanks to this, at the Ponseti Clinic, we can offer patients with PEC the care of two highly specialized pediatric orthopaedic specialists, who directly follow the legacy of the place where the Ponseti method originated.
For parents of children with PEC, not only the expertise of the doctor itself is important, but also the continuity of care, the correct management of treatment in individual phases and the possibility of interdisciplinary cooperation. Care at the Ponseti Clinic has been based on this principle for a long time.
Our goal is for families to have at their disposal not only expert orthopaedic examination, but also follow-up care from other specialists who can be essential for the proper development of the child.

- examination of the musculoskeletal system in children,
- congenital and acquired defects of the lower limbs,
- children's leg defects,

- care for children with Pes equinovarus congenitus – PEC,

ORTO-PHYSIO consultation as part of comprehensive care
Care at the Ponseti Clinic also includes ORTO-PHYSIO consultations, during which the child is examined simultaneously by a pediatric orthopaedic specialist and a physiotherapist.
This multidisciplinary approach makes it possible to connect the orthopaedic examination with a functional view of the child's musculoskeletal system. Thanks to this, not only the orthopaedic findings themselves can be evaluated more accurately, but also the way of movement, posture, muscle interplay and possible functional connections.
ORTHO-PHYZIO consultations can also be suitable for children with PEC, for whom it is important to monitor not only the development of the leg itself, but also the overall function of the musculoskeletal system and follow-up rehabilitation care.
