MD Sylva Gilbertová, CSc., graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University in Prague (major hygiene).

She collaborated with RNDr. Vladimír Gliwický at the department of ergonomics at the State Research Institute of the Economy of SMEs and at the State Health Institute in Prague, where she focused on diseases caused by overwork.

Between 1987 and 1997, she worked at the Institute of Postgraduate Education in Health Care (Department of Rehabilitation Medicine), where she was engaged in research and teaching activities, specializing in myoskeletal ergonomics.

She was the chairwoman of the Czech Ergonomic Society in 1996–2001.

In 2002, she published the book Ergonomics - optimization of human activity together with PhDr. Oldřich Matoušek.

She has many years of lecturing at the 2nd and 3rd Faculty of Medicine of the UK in the field of physiotherapy.

She is the author of approximately 150 professional publications.
