Occupational therapy: Regaining confidence, movement, and independence in everyday life
19. October 2025
Occupational Therapy helps people regain the ability to do the things they enjoy. It helps people after injuries and operations, with pain, neurological diseases, but also in cases where problems arose due to overload or one-sided load at work or during sports. It's not just about exercise or rehabilitation of the hand - ergotherapy is a way to manage normal daily activities again, improve the quality of life, work, create or take care of yourself and your loved ones.
The goal of Ergotherapy is to support self-sufficiency and functional movement.
At Ponseti Clinic, we offer modern, individually guided occupational therapy for adults and children. We base ourselves on the individual needs of each client and create tailor-made therapy focused on specific goals that are of real importance to a person.
What does therapy involve?
Every individual therapy programme begins with an initial assessment. Treatment is tailored to each person. Sometimes we focus on strengthening a particular muscle group; at other times we work on coordination, sensorimotor skills, or practising a specific activity.
How can we help you?
We help adults overcome pain, stiffness, or weakness in their upper limbs. Therapy focuses on restoring upper-limb function and improving coordination, sensation, strength, and fine motor skills. We also adapt the working environment and improve ergonomics to help prevent strain on muscles and joints. Practising everyday activities is important for people who have lost confidence in tasks such as dressing, writing, cooking, or working at a computer. We teach people how to manage these tasks efficiently, safely, and without pain. Where appropriate, we recommend assistive devices that can make daily life easier and improve independence. Returning to everyday activities also means regaining confidence, independence, and the activities that once brought you joy. Whether you need to improve hand function after an injury, manage pain at work, or support your child’s development, including motor skills, occupational therapy is a step in the right direction.
