Ponseti Clinic Reception

We have joined the Ponseti International Association

3. June 2026

Today is Ponseti Clinic's 2nd birthday.

And it's no coincidence that on this day.

Just 3. June is commemorated all over the world as World Clubfoot Day – World Golf (Horse) Foot Day. The date was chosen to honor the birth of Professor Ignacio Ponseti (1914-2009), a Spanish orthopaedic specialist who developed a treatment method at the University of Iowa that forever changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of children with the congenital malformation of the foot Pes Equinovarus Congenitus (PEC).

It was Professor Ponseti who laid the foundations of the treatment, which today is considered the global gold standard. His method is minimally invasive, highly effective and, when used correctly, achieves a success rate of around 95%. Each year, approximately 200 children are born with this diagnosis in the Czech Republic alone and almost 200,000 children worldwide.

And it was children diagnosed with PEC who were also at the birth of the Ponseti Clinic two years ago.

Even before the establishment of the clinic, thanks to hundreds of meetings with patients, their parents, and especially thanks to the long-term work of MUDr. Mgr. Monika Frydrychová, Ph.D., head physician of the Ponseti Clinic, knew how much there was a lack of a place in the Czech Republic that could offer truly comprehensive care for children with this diagnosis.

A place where everything will be under one roof.

A place that won't resemble a typical hospital.

A place where human approach, respect, dignity and comfort of patients will be as important as top medicine.

A place that will be able to guide the family through the entire treatment from the first days of the child's life to long-term follow-up.

And we decided to build just such a place.

In two years of operation, our patients completed more than 15,000 visits, a number that is not a statistic for us. That's more than 15,000 stories, 15,000 opportunities to help and 15,000 reasons to keep going.

Today we are also very happy about another important milestone.

It is on the second birthday of the Ponseti Clinic that we can announce that our work has also received significant international recognition.

Ponseti Clinic was included among the recommended workplaces of the Ponseti International Association (PIA).

It was this organization that was created at the University of Iowa, where Professor Ignacio Ponseti worked, taught and developed his method. PIA's mission is to spread the Ponseti Method around the world, educate health professionals, create professional standards and ensure that children born with the diagnosis of Pes Equinovarus Congenitus have access to quality treatment, regardless of where they are born in the world.

The inclusion among PIA's recommended workplaces represents a significant international recognition of the expertise of our workplace. The clinic was included in the list based on the recommendations of experts and the documented results of the treatment of our patients.

It is a great honor for us that we have become part of this global professional community and that we are currently the only workplace in the Czech Republic included among the recommended workplaces of the Ponseti International Association (PIA).

For this success, a big thank you goes especially to MUDr. Mgr. Monika Frydrychová, Ph.D., head physician of the Ponseti Clinic, who has long been involved in building the clinic's professional reputation in the Czech Republic and abroad and has made a significant contribution to the fact that our workplace has become part of this prestigious international professional network.

Two years are behind us.

But we are definitely not there.

We are only at the beginning.

We do not stop looking for new possibilities to further increase the quality of care, the efficiency of treatment and the level of services we provide to our patients. We want to push the boundaries of what is possible almost to the maximum of what contemporary medicine and interdisciplinary cooperation make possible.

And we are very happy that the Ponseti Clinic is not "just" a center for the treatment of children diagnosed with Pes Equinovarus Congenitus today. It has become a place where we take care of a wide range of diagnoses, where we connect experts across healthcare fields and where we help patients take care of their body, mind, vision and speech every day.

We thank all patients, parents, employees, partners and friends of the clinic for their trust, support and common journey.

We give strength to rise.
